Reporting a problem

What to include

Telling us these things in the first message usually saves a round trip and gets your problem fixed a good deal faster:

  • The device you are using and its iOS version.
  • The version of the app, shown in Settings within the app.
  • What you were doing when the problem happened, step by step if you can.
  • What you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
  • A screenshot or screen recording, if the problem is something you can see.
  • For anything involving field of view or framing accuracy, the exact camera body, sensor mode, lens series and focal length you had selected.
Common questions

Frequently asked

Is Cinevisor available yet?

Not yet. Cinevisor, our director's viewfinder for iOS, is in active development and has not been released on the App Store. Email us if you would like to be told when a test build is available.

My camera or lens is not in the database. Can you add it?

Usually, yes. Send us the make and model, and the manufacturer's specification sheet or a link to it. We add equipment using published manufacturer measurements rather than estimates, so a link to the official specifications is the single most useful thing you can send.

A field of view looks wrong to me. What should I do?

Tell us the camera body, the exact sensor mode, the lens and the focal length, and what you measured or observed. Sensor modes are the usual culprit, because the active sensor area differs between a body's open gate, cropped and anamorphic modes, and a difference of a millimetre or two changes the answer. We would rather hear about it than not.

Where does my data go?

See our privacy policy. In short: we are not in the business of collecting your photographs.

Can I request a feature?

Please do. We keep a list and we read every suggestion. Tell us the problem you are trying to solve on set rather than only the feature you have in mind — it often leads somewhere better.
