Crooster Inc. (“Crooster”, “we”, “us”) is a corporation incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act, with its registered office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website and to software products we publish.
Information we collect
From this website. This site does not use advertising trackers, analytics cookies or third-party marketing scripts. Our hosting provider records standard server logs, which may include IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and reliability purposes. Web fonts are served by Google Fonts, which receives a request from your browser when a page loads.
When you email us. We receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it to reply and to keep a record of the correspondence.
From our applications. Cinevisor, our iOS application, is in development and has not been released. When it is released, this policy will be updated to describe its data handling in specific terms before any user data is collected. Our intent, stated here so that it can be held against us later, is that photographs you capture and the productions you organise remain on your device and in your own iCloud account, and that we do not collect them.
How we use information
- To respond to enquiries you send us.
- To operate, secure and maintain our website and services.
- To meet legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Service providers
We use a small number of third parties to operate our business, including a website host and content delivery network, and an email provider. These providers process information only as needed to deliver their service to us. Where a provider is located outside Canada, your information may be processed outside Canada and may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
Retention
We keep correspondence for as long as needed to handle the matter it concerns and to meet our record-keeping obligations, and then delete it. Server logs are retained for a short period for security purposes.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law, and under the laws of other jurisdictions that may apply to you, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Write to david@crooster.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
Our products are made for professional and educational use in film and video production and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach affecting your information occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and revise the date at the top. Material changes affecting released products will be communicated in the product itself.
